Have you ever wondered how to select the perfect apple from the store? Well here are a few tips so you know what to look for.

  • A good apple will be firm with good color.
  • An immature apples will bepoor in color, and also begin to shrivel after storage
  • Overripe apples are mealy and often have a brown-tint areas caled scald.
  • When an apple is scald it is usually caused by gases given off by the apple during storage. If there is a small amount of the brownish tint, this should not affect the quality of the apple.
